rules

Sign Up:

To sign up for the Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series, visit the Fantasy Sport Site Sign Up Page (link above in menu) and fill out the required fields. Please note that the F1 Series can only have an even number of players, and new drivers/teams will only be added during the off-season. We carry two reserve drivers every year in the event that we need to replace a player.

Payment:

The Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series is FREE to play.

Schedule:

Be sure to check out the schedule page for 2022. Note: F1 has a tendency to change their race schedule frequently, we will attempt to keep up with any changes as the season goes on. To see the 2022 Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series Schedule, click HERE.

Weekly Pick Sheet:

Players (and reserve players) will submit picks for every race. The groups are set up by current F1 driver points and F1 constructor standings (based on the Victory Lane Racing points formula). There are 3 groups from which each player will choose from, and players MUST keep their selections at a total of $100 or less.

Group 1: Pick four drivers.

Group 2: Pick a constructor for the race.

Group 3: Pick a tire selection for the race.

Players are only allowed to pick Soft and Medium tires five times each per season. Soft tires will earn a player 4 (four) bonus points, but will cost a player $4 towards their $100 total. Medium tires will earn 2 (two) bonus points, and will cost $2.

Be sure to enter your name, email address, tie-breaker #1 and tie-breaker #2 options before submitting your picks. To see the pick sheet, click HERE.

*In the event that a driver on the pick sheet doesn't participate in that race, players will receive the points from whoever their replacement in that car is for that race. You're picking the car, not the driver.*

Picks Deadline:

Weekly deadlines will be the night before each race. For a Sunday race, picks will be due at 9:00pm EST on Saturday night. You may change any of your drivers up until the deadline.

On a weekend where there is an F1 Sprint Race, picks will be due earlier. Deadlines will be posted and included in Facebook posts and emails sent to the league.

Once the deadline has passed, you may not change your picks under any circumstances (we reserve the right to change the entry deadline for any race with notice). Late picks will not be accepted.

Provisionals:

There are no provisionals in the Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series. If a player fails to submit picks by the deadline, the reserve driver will race in their place.

After two missed races during a season, the reserve driver will take that player's place permanently on the team, and the player who failed to submit picks will either be removed from the league or turned into the reserve driver, depending on circumstances.

Scoring:

Determining a race Winner: Each player will choose 4 drivers, a constructor and tire selection for each race.

Following each F1 race, Victory Lane Racing will re-compute driver points based on their positions, so every F1 driver earns points during the race. The points that drivers earn will be as follows:

1st Place: (F1 Points) 25 = (VLR Points) 30

2nd: 18 = 25

3rd: 15 = 22

4th: 12 = 20

5th: 10 = 18

6th: 8 = 15

7th: 6 = 14

8th: 4 = 13

9th: 2 = 12

10th: 1 = 11

11th: 0 = 10

12th: 0 = 9

13th: 0 = 8

14th: 0 = 7

15th: 0 = 6

16th: 0 = 5

17th: 0 = 4

18th: 0 = 3

19th: 0 = 2

20th: 0 = 1

The fastest lap during the race will also earn the driver one bonus point.

Also, beginning in 2022, Constructor points will be earned by players as well. Each player will select a constructor for each race, and the average of the two drivers for each constructor will be the points earned. This is using VLR points. So a win and 10th place finish by a team will earn 20 points for that team (30+10=40/2=20).

Tire selections will earn:

Hard: +0 points

Medium: +2 points

Soft: +4 points

Players are only allowed to pick Soft and Medium five times each per season. If they pick a tire they have no more of, they will receive negative points for those selections. Soft -4 points, Medium -2 points.

Determining a Season Champion: Each player's finish will earn them season long points, and the player who scores the most overall points during the season will be the season champion.

TEAMS:

All Victory Lane Racing F1 Series players (that are not reserve drivers) will be on a team. Team points will accrue each race, and overall team points will be earned/calculated.

The team that scores the most overall standings points (not race points) will win the Team Championship.

Tie Breaking:

In a Race: If there is a tie in a race, the player's choice of a race winner will be their tie breaker. Whoever's driver finishes highest, wins that tie. If the drivers who tied have the same race winner, the second tie breaker (who will finish last?) will be used. Whoever's selection finished the WORST, will WIN the tie. *If a driver selected for second tie-breaker gets injured during the race weekend and they/their car doesn't compete, they will not count towards the last place tie-breaker, as you can't finish last if you don't start the race*.

If the players have the same selections for both tie-breakers above, the player highest in points entering the race wins the tie.

*For the first race of each season, the points will revert back to the final season standings from the previous season*

In the points (at the end of the season): If there is a tie in the point standings, the player with the most wins will win the tie. If the two players are tied with wins, it will go top 5's, top 10's and if all else fails, whoever was highest in points the previous race.

Facebook Group:

The Fantasy Sport Site has a Facebook Group for all of the players in all games. It is recommended that each player in each of the games requests to join our group, as the administrators for the games will be in contact with everyone there. To go to the Facebook group and request to join, click HERE.

Race Errors/Changes:

There will be a one week window where points can change after a race. If you add up your points and find an error, let webmaster@thefantasysportsite.com know within 7 days and action will be taken to fix that error. After 7 days, the results are frozen and can no longer be changed.

Rule Changes:

We reserve the right to change or amend any rule during the season. Any change that occurs will happen before a race and will not affect the outcome of any previous race. Any rule changes will be posted on the site and emailed to all members.
