Cross-Check Hockey League

rules

Sign Up:

To sign up for the Cross-Check Hockey League, visit the Sign Up Page on the main page of TheFantasySportSite.com. Fill out all required fields and we will respond and put you on the waiting list for the game.

Team names:

Each player will choose a real (current or historical) Minor League Hockey team name to use for themselves, such as the Springfield Falcons or the Providence Bruins. No two players can have the same team name.

Here is a helpful site to help choose a team name: http://www.logoserver.com/Hockey.html

picks/deadlines:

Each player will submit picks weekly by Thursday at 11:59am ET. Any picks received after 11:59am ET weekly will NOT be accepted, and that player will forfeit their matchup for the week. The league allows two forfeits per season. A third forfeit by any team automatically results in the removal and replacement of that player. A forfeit will result in 0 points for that player for the week that they forfeited.

all-star game/break:

There is no planned All-Star break during the 2021 Cross-Check Hockey League Season

scoring:

Each weekly matchup will happen from Friday - Sunday. When possible, Friday games will be the 1st period. Saturday will be the second period, and Sunday will be the third and final period for the week.

Each week, players will select 9 game winners from the weekend. Four games will be available to choose from for each period. Players must choose the three winners they're the most confident will win, and assign 1, 2 or 3 confidence points based on how confident they are in the winner they chose. Each player MUST assign 1, 2 and 3 points in each period. If the team you choose to win wins, you earn the confidence points you assigned to that team. If that team loses, you will receive zero points for that selection.

Example: Your Picks:

Boston over Los Angeles (3 Points)

St. Louis over Chicago (2 Points)

Minnesota over Dallas (1 Point)

Boston Wins (+3), Chicago Wins (0), Dallas Wins (0). You get 3 points.

The object of the league is to get more points each week than your opponent. If you earn more points than your opponent, you will receive one win. However, if your opponent scores more points than you, you will take one loss.

tie breaking:

In the event that the scores are tied between two teams after three periods of play, the tie will be broken using the following criteria:

1. Number of periods won during the week.

2. Your period one 3 point team's goals scored compared to the opponent. The player with the highest amount of goals scored from their 3 point team will win the tie.

3. Your period two 3 point team's goals scored compared to the opponent. The player with the highest amount of goals scored from their 3 point team will win the tie.

4. Your period three 3 point team's goals scored compared to the opponent. The player with the highest amount of goals scored from their 3 point teams will win the tie.

5 - 10. The above continues for period one 2 point team, period two 2 point game... etc. Down through period three 1 point team as the 10th tie-breaker.

11. If the above 4 criteria still leaves the score tied, your total GAME points for the season entering the weekly match-up will be used.

If you lose a tie, you will receive 1 point in the standings. Your loss will go in the "OTL" column instead of the "Loss" column in the standings.

schedule and divisions:

After the season sign-up deadline has been reached, a round robin schedule will be developed. The 2021 Cross-Check Hockey League regular season will run 10 weeks from January 15th - March 21st. The playoffs will then run from March 26th - May 2nd.

Conferences and divisions will be finalized following the sign-up deadline. Based on a 28 team league, there will be two conferences and four divisions.

playoffs:

The Cross-Check Hockey League playoffs will consist of 12 teams (the top three from each division), beginning on Friday March 26th. Six teams from each conference will make the playoffs, with the top 2 division winners in each conference earning a first round bye.

Week 1 (March 26th - March 28th) will consist of the #3 vs. #6 and #4 vs. #5 seed in each conference.

Week 2 (April 2nd - April 4th) will match the #1 seed vs. the lowest seeded winner from playoff week 1 games in both conferences. The #2 seed will match the highest seeded winner from playoff week 1 games.

Week 3 (April 9th - April 11th) will match the winners in each conference from playoff week 2 games against each other.

Championship Matchup (April 16th - April 18th, April 23rd - April 25th, April 30th - May 2nd) will be the Championship matchup. Both winners from playoff week 3 games will advance to the championship game, and the champion will be the winner of this best of 3 match.
