TNP Week 3 Recap

SeaWolves, Lake Monsters and Cubs Remain Perfect As The Pack Tightens

Three weeks into the 2026 season, only three teams remain undefeated — and the battle for playoff positioning is already becoming intense across all four divisions.

The biggest performance of Week 3 belonged to the Erie SeaWolves, who exploded for a league-best 46 runs, the highest weekly total posted since Worcester's 42-run opening week. The massive weekend pushed Erie to 3-0 and 95 total runs, allowing them to maintain control of the Great Lakes Division while further establishing themselves as one of the league's early championship favorites.

The Atlantic Division saw a changing of the guard. After opening the year behind Worcester and Aberdeen, the Vermont Lake Monsters used a huge 43-run performance to climb into first place. Nate Bishop's club is now the only undefeated team in the division at 3-0 with 92.5 runs, while Worcester and Aberdeen both sit one game back at 2-1. The Atlantic remains the deepest division in TNP, with just 17.5 runs separating first from last despite the standings spread.

The South Division has produced the league's biggest surprise through three weeks. The South Bend Cubs improved to 3-0, becoming the only unbeaten team in the American Conference. Shane Burton's squad has quietly avoided major mistakes while consistently piling up runs, giving them a three-game winning streak and control of the division entering Week 4. The Gwinnett Stripers and Carolina Mudcats remain close behind at 2-1, setting up what should become one of the season's best division races.

Meanwhile, the Frontier Division remains completely up for grabs. The Omaha Storm Chasers reclaimed first place despite scoring only 37 runs in Week 3, moving to 2-1 with 94 total runs. However, the Sacramento River Cats sit just 2.5 runs behind, while every other team in the division remains mathematically within striking distance.

Week 3 also produced several major bounce-back performances. The Lansing Lugnuts posted 41 runs to move into second place in the Great Lakes, while the Florence Freedom erupted for 39 runs after a difficult start to the season. The Albuquerque Isotopes and Kane County Cougars each posted 38-run weekends to keep themselves firmly in contention.

At the other end of the standings, the Fort Wayne TinCaps and newly renamed Jamestown Jammers remain winless at 0-3. The Jammers, now under the the guidance of Norah Riney, are beginning a new chapter after replacing the former Batavia Muckdogs identity. While the record has not yet improved, the club finally broke through with a respectable 33-run performance in Week 3 and may be showing signs of life.

Three weeks down, and the confidence format is proving exactly what league organizers hoped it would: every point matters, every missed high-confidence pick hurts, and no lead is safe. With four divisions still tightly contested and only three unbeaten teams remaining, the race for the inaugural TNP championship is officially underway.
