HELTON WINS IN AUSTRIA
Nathan Helton Breaks Through in Austria as Championship Fight Tightens Piquet scores a dominant 1-3 finish while Renault surges to the top of the constructor standings
Nathan Helton returned to Victory Lane for the first time since the 2022 season, capturing the Austrian Grand Prix at the Red Bull Ring for his fourth career Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series victory. Helton led an unforgettable afternoon for Piquet, as teammate Myra Cochran finished third to give the organization its first Team of the Week award of 2026. Jay Smogolski split the pair with a runner-up finish for Scommessa Venta, while Dawn Keller and Jamie Dyke continued PMG's remarkable consistency by finishing fourth and fifth to keep the team championship lead intact.
Although Helton celebrated the race win, the championship picture remains firmly in Malachi Hammerle's hands. The Scarlet Speedworks driver recovered from a ninth-place finish to retain the points lead, six points ahead of Jamie Dyke entering the season's ninth race. Dawn Keller climbed into third after another steady afternoon, while Steve Ruth quietly continued one of the strongest campaigns in the series with his second podium of the year, moving into fourth in the standings. On the other side of the championship battle, Greg Miller's struggles continued with a 28th-place finish, dropping the former points leader to 15th in the standings, while Britten Steinfels slipped from second to fifth after finishing 23rd.
The battle for every championship continues to intensify. PMG still leads the team standings, but Scarlet Speedworks remains within striking distance only 37 points back. Honda surrendered the constructor lead after Austria, as Renault's outstanding weekend pushed it to the top of the standings by six points. With only eight races completed, every championship remains wide open, and momentum continues to shift from week to week as the series heads to one of its most historic venues.

Next Up: British Grand Prix
The Victory Lane Racing Formula One Series heads next to the legendary Silverstone Circuit for the British Grand Prix. Malachi Hammerle carries a six-point championship lead over Jamie Dyke, but with Renault, Honda, and Ferrari separated by just 17 points in the constructor standings and several drivers building momentum, another shakeup in all three championship battles could be just around the corner.
