Gary Dadey Survives Pocono Thriller





Top Four Drivers Separated by Just Two Points in One of 2026's Closest Finishes



Gary Dadey finally returned to Victory Lane.


The Kraft Miracle Whip Chevrolet driver survived one of the closest finishes of the 2026 season at Pocono Raceway, edging Stephen DiCaprio, Kamy Miller, and Greg Miller in the Great American Gateway 400. Just two race points separated the top four finishers, with Dadey narrowly holding off the field to secure his 21st career Victory Lane Racing NASCAR Cup Series victory and first win since the 2024 season.


The victory could not have come at a better time. Dadey entered the weekend outside the top 30 in points and left Pocono with a nine-position gain in the standings, climbing from 31st to 22nd.

DiCaprio's runner-up finish continued his steady climb toward the championship lead, while Kamy Miller and Greg Miller each collected another top-five result in their pursuit of points leader Jamie Dyke. Dan Clarke rounded out the top five, earning his first top-five finish of the 2026 season.

Jamie Dyke maintained the points lead following a seventh-place finish, but the battle at the top remains incredibly tight.


Dyke leads Greg Miller by just four points, while Stephen DiCaprio sits only 13 points back after his second-place run. Mathew Steinfels remains firmly in contention as well, only 20 points behind the leader.

Gary Dadey's recent form suggested a breakthrough was coming. Despite entering Pocono 31st in points, his last-ten-race average of 20.3 is nearly five positions better than his season-long average. Pocono finally delivered the result.


Dan Clarke continues to quietly build momentum. His season average sits at 23.5, but over the last ten races he has averaged 17.2, the largest improvement of any full-time driver in the field.

Rob Kuczmarski remains safely inside the playoff field, but the Daytona 500 winner has cooled significantly. His last-ten-race average is nearly five positions worse than his season average, the largest decline among current playoff drivers.


Bryan Birmingham has also struggled to maintain the pace that carried him to an early-season victory. His last-ten-race average is more than four positions worse than his season average.


Lisa Taylor continues to search for momentum after another difficult outing. Her last-ten-race average trails her season average by more than five positions, one of the largest declines in the series.


Rookie of the Race

Jack Thesier earned Rookie of the Race honors with a 26th-place finish. The rookie remains comfortably inside the top 25 in points and continues to lead fellow rookie Joey Moyer in the standings.


Looking Ahead The Victory Lane Racing NASCAR Cup Series heads next to San Diego International Raceway for Race 17 of the season. With only ten races remaining before the Chase field is locked in, every point is becoming increasingly important in the battle for a championship berth.
